Dear Michigan Community,
Thank you for participating in our Year of Democracy, Civic Empowerment, and Global Engagement launch week events! The tapestry of last week’s events spanned a myriad of topics like reproductive justice, climate and sustainability, and voting, reflecting our commitment to encouraging constructive dialogue throughout our campus. Indeed, one of the key goals of our theme year is to create spaces where everyone can engage in respectful and productive conversations about society’s most pressing issues—even, and especially, when we disagree. Our events, learning resources, engagement opportunities, and grant programs are designed with this goal in mind.
In the spirit of civil discourse and shared learning, we have an exciting lineup of events featuring scholars, policymakers, students, and changemakers dedicated to bridging divides. Mark your calendars for “Jonathan Van Ness Gets Curious About Voting” on October 4, and insights from Former Governors John Kasich and Steve Bullock on democracy and civic discourse on October 9. Don’t miss the "War Game: Film Screening & Conversation" on October 8, featuring Former Governor Steve Bullock and a renowned panel of Michigan faculty—this event promises to spark thought-provoking discussions.
